The Epicurus tool: The best pleasure is a good friend

Epicurus had his own school of philosophy in Athens. He called it the Garden of Pleasures, and like-minded people gathered there to learn how to be happy. It was a space where friendships could grow, as our philosopher states that "of all the wise ways that exist to ensure happiness throughout life, the most important is friendship."

Again, the contemporary world agrees with him: loneliness kills, nothing affects aging as negatively as the lack of positive social relationships, and what triggers our ability to overcome obstacles the most is the affection of others.

We can create our own garden of happiness and take it inside, being careful when choosing pleasures and creating an environment in which friends, our best allies, can accompany us.

"Understanding oneself is the beginning of knowledge."
