A small revolution in Thailand: Loy Krathong, the lantern festival

In the north of Thailand, around November, Loy Krathong is celebrated, a festival that celebrates the moment when you decide to let go of those negative thoughts and emotions that weigh on you, that do not help you.

Thousands of paper lanterns go up to the sky, symbolizing with their golden glow an invitation to let go of the anxieties and worries of the people who are down on earth.

It is a simple act, but the image is very powerful.

How can we do this at home? You can use the same symbolic language from the Thailand lantern festival. There are a thousand ways to do it! For example, write on a piece of paper what worries you. Roll the paper into a ball and throw it in the trash, or burn it. You can also go to a river, throw your paper in the water and watch it slowly drift away.

If you prefer, when you are lying down trying to sleep and those dark thoughts are keeping you awake, imagine that they turn into black smoke and move away from you. Or that you enclose them in bubbles that float away, until they prick and disappear. Or he thinks that you are in a car driving and that those thoughts come out the window. I assure you it works.
