Émile Coué de la Châtaigneraie: Pioneer of applied conditioning

Émile Coué is considered the pioneer of Conscious Autosuggestion, although his techniques come from authors from previous centuries. Since the second half of the 19th century, he taught the importance of * affirmations to transform the vital state * of human beings.

Coué was an apothecary, pharmacist and psychotherapist. He taught and disseminated Autosuggestion as a therapeutic method and facilitated numerous healings, the testimonies of which were compiled in his books (in French). * Coué * explored original and novel paths within modern psychology: he was a forerunner of behavioral psychology and of positive thinking, as well as an assiduous experimenter of the placebo effect.

Considered by Charles Baudouin as representative of a Second School of Nancy, Coué treated many patients in groups and free of charge.
